Garden Club
A unique feature of St Francis Xavier’s School is the Garden Club. Visitors entering the inner courtyard of the school are delighted and amazed by the variety of vegetables in the garden. Each week, different classes tend the garden on a voluntary basis during lunch time. Guided by Mrs Sally Foster, the children are responsible for planting, watering and maintaining the vegetables. They learn how each plant grows and are delighted to harvest the vegetables at the end of the growing season and are able to take them home to cook. The Garden Club offers students an alternative to the playground, allowing them an opportunity to learn, to work as a small group and develop an understanding of healthy eating.
